Vince Gill – An Unauthorized Biography And Musical Appreciation of the Country Superstar (Book)
By Mark Bego
Renaissance Books, Los Angeles, CA
This book is a fawning and juvenile tribute to Vince Gill, and would probably of little interest to any reader over the age of 16 except that it contains several mentions of Gill’s background in bluegrass. As the title suggests, it was written without cooperation or input from Gill himself. There are no particularly penetrating insights into Gill’s career or musical influences – everything seems to have been gleaned from press releases and stories which appeared in other places. But it provides a good chronology of Gill’s career from the beginning, including his bluegrass roots, and might be a good thing to give to a hard-core Gill fan if one wanted to spark their interest in bluegrass music.
